Morning shots

Went down to Macritchie Reservoir a couple of times to try to take some photos during sunrise. Unfortunately, the weather seemed to have a bone of contention to pick with me. It was either rainy or the sky was filled with dark clouds that threatened to rain at any moment, the haze, etc etc.

Argh, I really want to go to Mt Faber there for some shots… The sunrise there was fantastic the last I went there.

Also, there’s the point about that grey spot that keeps on consistently appearing on the exact same place in portrait shots. It doesn’t seem to appear during landscape shots. It’s damn irritating… I’ve cleaned the entire lens, camera body and lens filters and it still doesn’t seem to go away. Hopefully it’s nothing serious, though probably I’ll head down to a service center when I have a free day.

SIC Tamashi KR Ryuki

DSC03231

Got this piece with SHF Decade and Diend sometime back. Haven’t really had the time to really take it out to fiddle around with. This piece is small, damn small to be exact, roughly about 3/4 the size of SHF Decade.

It’s also pretty posable given it’s size, though the elbows always give way cause of the ball and socket joint.

Accessories include, 2 fists (1 open, 1 slightly clenched), a fist with advent card, the sword and the dragon head for the strike vent.

Time Slip

Been listening to some old songs that were lying dormant in my HDD. This one kinda stuck out for some reason.

Hanayaka na machi ni irozuku kisetsu
itsumo shiranu ma ni sugisatte
jikan ryokou no tabiji ni oritatta basho wa
haruka na toki no kanata

mou dore kurai kimi to warattenai kana
hanareba nare wa kyori dake janai
kizukanai furi shiteru kedo asobikata o
wasureteshimatta no sa

passing by passing by real world
hitomi tojireba hirogatteyuku
passing by passing by sweet times
amaku setsunai ashiato

ne kimi mo onaji
kimochi darou

running through without your help
running through without your vibes

soredemo ude o nobashite
sasayaka na yume
o bokura wa tadotteyuku

passing by passing by real world
awai honoo o tayasanu you
passing by passing by sweet times
kyou mo ashita e mukaou

lyrics from here

English Translation:

Just beyond town, the season's brilliant colours
Highlight a gate usually kept unknown
It is the destination of my time-travelling journey
A faraway place in the past
How much longer will I be unable to smile with you?
Distance isn't all that keeps us apart
I pretended not to notice but I saw as you played
That you had forgotten me
Passing by passing by real world
I'll be swallowed if I close my eyes
Passing by passing by sweet times
Sweet, painful footsteps
You feel the same way, don't you?
Running through without your help
Running through without your vibes
Furthermore, as I hold out my hand
This meagre dream pursues us both
Passing by passing by real world
As the faintest flames die out
Passing by passing by sweet times
Today goes on into tomorrow

Don’t you just ‘love’ the sound when the register goes “kaching!”

Got myself a lenspen and a laptop/camera backpack (Lowepro CompuDaypack) today.

Super heavy damage to my pockets… cost me a total of SGD$132… $13 for the lenspen and $119 for the backpack.

Was aiming for the Fastpack 250, but that was way over budget @ $150.

Now all that is left for me for camera accessories would be the Phottix Cleon II wireless/wired remote. Hopefully I’ll be able to lay my hands on one when the stock comes in at the end of the month… yet another $48 that I’m going to spend…

Am I losing my focus?

School’s started, assignments, homework, reading up, spending time on my hobbies (cooking, photography, making the effort not to buy more new toys), etc etc…

One thing leads to another thing which leads to yet another thing.

Can’t help but feel that I’m slowly losing my focus and slipping into the boring conundrum of everyday life.

Feels like I have so many things that I need to accomplish and yet, I feel like I have nothing to accomplish.

Some things, feel like it’s so far away, but yet, it’s just within arms reach. Conversely, some other things, feel like it’s so close, but yet, so far away.

It’s that feeling of whilst doing nothing at all, certain things just seem to make themselves come closer and closer and closer with ever passing second and while doing all that I can to reach a goal, some goals just feel like it’s exponentially getting further and further away despite doing everything in my power to reach it.

Guess I do need some more time to mull over it and straighten things out… I need to focus and sharpen my edge…

It’s been feeling real dull and blunt as of late

Guess the person in charge really does make a difference…

Was out for lunch with my family and grandma today. It was kind of a treat from me and my younger brother since we promised grandma one when she got all better from her illness sometime back.

Went to this place for a “Dim Sum” buffet lunch. Food wasn’t really that fantastic though. Guess it’s really a matter of price for quality. Can’t really expect fantastic food for something that’s relatively cheap. If it’s really good, then it’s a bonus. BUT, if it’s expensive and tastes like crap, then I’d probably make a big fuss over it.

Bro was eating this fried cuttlefish ball when he spit out a metal staple from it. Mum went kind of ballistic over it, and probably rightly so IF the staple was rusty. Luckily it wasn’t. Called one of the managers over cause of it. Apologies from him and the usual stuff followed and he promised to get back to us as soon as he consulted with his boss about it.

So off he went and we resumed the meal. He returned shortly, saying that the cuttlefish paste was supplied to them by a supplier and that they had no control over it. A report would be made to the supplier, etc etc etc.

Now what really surprised us was what he said in the end: “After consulting with our boss on the matter, as a sign of our deepest apologies for what has happened today, today’s bill will be on the house.” (It was in spoken in chinese and this is the english translation of what was said as close as what I remembered.)

Woah, we kind of expected them to charge one person less but not for all of us. Had an experience once where we were eating at this vegetarian restaurant chain which was set up by one of the more prominent F&B chains locally. Was tearing a custard mua chee roll in half when I noticed a metal ribbon about 4 cm long hanging in one of the halves. For that, we were given a 20% discount off the total bill. The person who made the decision was… a local.

Now, the boss of this “Dim Sum” place was the one who made the decision and he was… Japanese.

Do you see the difference in styles of service recovery? Having metal bits in the food is indeed a very serious matter. Imagine the repercussions that would result if someone actually ingested the metal bits, it could very well be a potentially fatal injury. If one were to make a big fuss over the whole ordeal, the amount of damages and fines that these places would have to pay would definately be more than the discount given.

Which of the 2 places would you prefer to dine at again?

Random randomness

Pretty much being random here…

Was feeling kind of bored and all. Started on my essay due on Monday, but stumbled onto a block. It’s been like ages since I last wrote an essay and there’s the matter of references from journals, articles, textbooks, etc. urgh…. (-_-“)

Nonetheless, camera came out and I guess one thing leads to another. Now I got to get back to my essay and I’m not liking it at all in the least. Assignments are painful stuff, especially when they are graded and due in the near future.

Just let me shoot something… anything…

Trigger finger is itching again….

I just feel like shooting something and anything. Be it photography, those arcade gun games, Nerfing(if I ever get my hands on a really cheap one) or really shooting real bullets, though I think letting arrows, darts or just about any projectile fly loose would also satiate my hunger.

Just anything that involves me pulling a trigger…

Would like to fire this at least once in my lifetime though… had enough of M16s and MGs during the NS days… though I guess shooting with a camera is the least hazardous, law-abiding and non-aggressive solution to my problem. XP

On an off note, the G1 TF Megatron is based on this particular model and CAN actually fire plastic bullets. I do own one, but am too lazy to actually snip the bullets from the plastic tree. Besides, shooting plastic bullets and real bullets are like heaven and earth.
